When you have a family you love, you may well have Maryland life insurance, to help ensure they are not put into a difficult financial situation after you are gone. Part of the insurance payout usually goes towards funeral arrangements. Some people prefer to specify these in advance, so the family doesn’t have to make these decisions during what may be a time of emotional upheaval. What sort of burial would you prefer? There are three main types of funerals:

  • A full-service funeral, sometimes known as a traditional burial, is probably the most expensive choice. This type of arrangement typically involves a viewing of the body, embalming, funeral service, and use of a hearse.
  • An alternative to the traditional service is a direct burial. With this option, the body is buried as soon as practical after death. There is no wake, so embalming is usually not required. Related expenses may include a casket, cemetery plot, and funeral home fees.
  • The third and final choice is cremation. This is by far the least expensive because there is no embalming, casket, or cemetery involved. Instead, a crematory fee and the price of an urn may be required.

A common mistake among life insurance policy holders is not purchasing enough coverage. With funerals costing several thousand dollars on average, your family may stand to get less than you believe. By increasing the death benefit of your Maryland life insurance, you might feel more confident that your family will be financially secure when your time comes.
